eBay Fees Calculator
Every eBay sale loses a slice to fees. The final value fee is the biggest, but payment processing and insertion fees stack on top, and together they can take more than a sixth of what the buyer pays.
Net payout
$49.99
- Total sale (price + shipping)
- $60.00
- Final value fee
- $7.95
- Payment processing
- $1.71
- Total fees
- $10.01
Values update as you type. This calculator covers the single scenario its formula assumes — see Common Mistakes for what it leaves out.
The formula this calculator uses
Net payout = (Price + Shipping) - Final value fee - Payment processing - Insertion fee
- Price
- Item price
- Shipping
- Shipping charged to the buyer
- FVF
- Final value fee rate for the category
- Processing
- Payment processing rate plus fixed fee
How to check the result by hand
- 1
Add the item price and shipping
The total sale is what the buyer pays, and it is the base for the final value fee.
- 2
Apply the final value fee
Multiply the total sale by the category rate, for example 13.25 percent.
- 3
Add payment processing
Apply the processing percentage to the total sale and add the fixed fee per order.
- 4
Add the insertion fee
Include any listing charge for the item.
- 5
Subtract the fees from the total sale
What remains is the net payout before the seller's own shipping and cost of goods.
