Values update as you type. This calculator covers the single scenario its formula assumes — see Common Mistakes for what it leaves out.
The formula this calculator uses
Fee = Amount x Percentage + Fixed; Net = Amount - Fee
- Amount
- Transaction amount before the fee
- Percentage
- PayPal's percentage fee
- Fixed
- Flat charge per transaction
- Fee
- Total PayPal charge
How to check the result by hand
- 1
Apply the percentage fee
Multiply the transaction amount by the percentage rate.
- 2
Add the fixed fee
Add the flat per-transaction charge to the percentage charge.
- 3
Subtract from the amount
The amount minus the total fee is the net you receive.
- 4
Compute the effective rate
Divide the total fee by the amount to see the true cost as a percentage.
- 5
Gross up for a target net
Divide the target net by one minus the percentage, then add the fixed fee, to find the amount to charge.
