Frequently asked questions
Where do the rates come from?
Live rates come from Frankfurter, a free public API backed by the European Central Bank (ECB). Frankfurter serves the ECB's daily reference rates, which are widely used by accountants, businesses, and news outlets.
How often is the rate updated?
The ECB publishes reference rates every business day around 16:00 CET. Frankfurter picks up the new rate immediately, so loading or refreshing the page will show the latest available rate. If markets are closed (weekend or ECB holiday) the last business-day rate stays displayed.
What's the difference between EUR/CNY and CNY/EUR?
EUR/CNY tells you how many CNY one EUR buys. CNY/EUR is the inverse — how many EUR one CNY buys. They move exactly opposite to each other: if EUR/CNY rises, CNY/EUR falls. Use the CNY to EUR converter for the reverse direction.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Every conversion runs locally in your browser; the amount you enter is never sent to any server. Only the rate-fetch call hits the public Frankfurter API, and that request contains only the currency codes — not any personal data.
