How overtime pay is calculated

Overtime pay is usually paid at 1.5 times your normal hourly rate (time and a half). Your regular pay covers your standard hours, while overtime pay rewards the extra hours you work beyond your regular schedule.

Example

If you earn $25 per hour, work 40 regular hours and 10 overtime hours each week for 52 weeks, your regular pay is $52,000, your overtime pay is $19,500, and your total annual earnings are $71,500.

Who this is for

Hourly employees, freelancers tracking billable overtime, and anyone comparing a salaried offer against an hourly role with overtime can use this tool to see the real yearly number.
