Paycheck Calculator

Estimate your take-home pay from an annual salary. This tool models federal income tax (single filer, 2025) and FICA, then shows your net biweekly paycheck.

Estimates only. This tool is provided for educational purposes and is not financial advice. It models the figures you enter — it does not know your credit terms, local taxes, or fees. Talk to a licensed adviser before making a decision.

Worked example

An $80,000 salary, paid biweekly, single filer.

Estimated net per paycheck: $2,355 from a gross of $3,077, after about $487 federal and $235 FICA per check.

What comes out of a paycheck?

Two big federal deductions hit every paycheck: federal income tax (progressive, via withholding) and FICA — 6.2% Social Security (wages up to $176,100 in 2025) plus 1.45% Medicare. This tool estimates the income-tax piece using 2025 single brackets.

Estimate only. State income tax, local tax, pre-tax deductions (401(k), health insurance), and additional Medicare tax above $200k are not included.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my first paycheck smaller than this?

Pre-tax deductions (401(k), health premiums) and any state/local tax reduce take-home further. This shows federal + FICA only.

What's the difference between biweekly and semi-monthly?

Biweekly = 26 paychecks a year (some months have 3). Semi-monthly = 24 equal paychecks (1st and 15th). Annual pay is the same; per-check differs.

Is the federal estimate accurate?

It's a rough withholding estimate using 2025 brackets, not your actual W-4 allowances. Use it for budgeting, not tax filing.
