How to use the Amazon Profit Calculator

  1. Enter your selling price and product cost (COGS) per unit.
  2. Pick the fulfillment method: FBA or FBM. FBA fields (fulfillment fee, inbound shipping) appear; FBM shows shipping-to-buyer.
  3. Enter the referral fee % (Amazon's cut, often 8–15% by category) and your PPC/ad spend per unit.
  4. Add units sold per month to project monthly net profit.

Worked example

A $29.99 private-label unit costing $8, sold via FBA with a 15% referral fee, $4.75 fulfillment, $0.50 inbound, and $3 PPC. Referral fee is $4.50, fulfillment $5.25, so net profit is about $8.74 per unit — a 29.1% margin. At 500 units/month that is ~$4,370 in monthly profit.

What is Amazon Profit Calculator?

Amazon keeps a referral fee (a % of the sale) plus, for FBA, a per-unit fulfillment fee that scales with size and weight. Your real profit is what remains after COGS, those fees, shipping, and advertising.

Net profit/unit = Price − COGS − (Price × Referral%) − Fulfillment − Shipping − PPC − Other

Frequently asked questions

Does this include Amazon's storage fees?

No. Long-term storage and monthly storage fees are separate; add them under 'Other cost' if they materially affect your unit economics.

Why is my margin negative?

Usually the referral + fulfillment + PPC stack eats the price. Raise price, cut COGS, or reduce ad spend per unit until net turns positive.

Are the fee defaults accurate?

They are typical US averages. Amazon updates fees yearly — check Seller Central for your category and product size tier before relying on the numbers.
