Frequently asked questions

Where do the rates come from?

Live rates come from Frankfurter, a free public API backed by the European Central Bank (ECB). Frankfurter serves the ECB's daily reference rates, which are widely used by accountants, businesses, and news outlets.

How often is the rate updated?

The ECB publishes reference rates every business day around 16:00 CET. Frankfurter picks up the new rate immediately, so loading or refreshing the page will show the latest available rate. If markets are closed (weekend or ECB holiday) the last business-day rate stays displayed.

What's the difference between USD/AUD and AUD/USD?

USD/AUD tells you how many AUD one USD buys. AUD/USD is the inverse — how many USD one AUD buys. They move exactly opposite to each other: if USD/AUD rises, AUD/USD falls. Use the AUD to USD converter for the reverse direction.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Every conversion runs locally in your browser; the amount you enter is never sent to any server. Only the rate-fetch call hits the public Frankfurter API, and that request contains only the currency codes — not any personal data.
